It’s mostly loops, they may be great, but I don’t use them,. The pack is very reasonably priced, so I got it for the one shots, of wich there are not many. Those available have many velocity layers, that is great, but if you want to use hardware with limited memory, like I do, again not very useful. It’s just me I guess, I’m getting too old for this shiit. I would like to see packs usable on for example ipad apps, octatrack, op-1 , without the vast amounts of dead weight.

I found myself buying Catalyst because a fellow artist told me how ethnic percussion samples opened up his sound. Catalyst a hefty library for the price but not forbiddingly large! I put it to work the day I got it, adding low-end skins and interesting percussive sounds, shakers and jingles to my nearly completed song. As it happens I just added a brand new section to my latest track I'm releasing next week. The dynamic range on these files can't be beat. The low-end on the toms sometimes threatens to overtake my live drum kit! My next step will be to create and combine some of the loops included in the set to create backings for guitar improvisations, with the expectation that the loops themselves will make it all the way to the final version of whatever survives the editing process. An amazing deal!

Catalyst offers a range of loops (most in the 120+ bpm range), from heavily edited to pure, from fills to shakers plus a treasure chest of one shots. There's enough toms, taikos, congas, djembes, daikos and so on to create some really unique percussion tracks or your very own virtual instruments. Al that for a very reasonable price.
